My 2025 Honkai: Star Rail Journey: Navigating Version 3.4's Epic Character Lineup
Honkai: Star Rail's Version 3.4 is a game-changer with ten character re-runs and an exciting Fate crossover, igniting gacha excitement!
I've been grinding Honkai: Star Rail for what feels like forever, and let me tell you, Version 3.4 is shaping up to be absolutely bonkers! The hype is real, folks. Just when I thought HoYoverse couldn't possibly top themselves after that mind-blowing Amphoreus storyline, they drop this bombshell of an update with TEN character re-runs. Yes, you heard that right—ten! Talk about a gacha player's dream (or nightmare for our wallets, am I right?).
The Fate Crossover That Broke The Internet
When HoYoverse first announced the Fate/Stay Night crossover, I literally spit out my coffee. After years of playing gacha games, crossovers always seemed like pipe dreams, but here we are in 2025 with Archer and Saber joining the Star Rail universe! I've already started farming materials like a madman because there's no way I'm missing out on adding these iconic characters to my roster.
The Saber banner is apparently going to run longer than the standard three weeks, which gives me more time to save up those precious Stellar Jades. Thank goodness, because between her and all these re-runs, I'm going to be eating instant ramen for the foreseeable future. Worth it though!
First Half Banners: Harmony Heaven
The first half of Version 3.4 is looking like a Harmony main's paradise. I've been waiting for Phainon's release ever since he showed up in the Amphoreus storyline—that Physical Destruction gameplay they teased in the beta looked absolutely cracked.
But the real stars (for me at least) are the Harmony characters. Having all three top-tier Harmony units—Sunday, Tribbie, and Sparkle—available simultaneously is unprecedented! As someone who's been struggling with Forgotten Hall's latest challenges, having access to these support powerhouses could completely change my account.
Here's my plan of attack for the first half banners:
-
Phainon: Must-pull! His Physical DMG ceiling looks insane
-
Sunday: Already have her (got lucky during 2.6), but constellations would be nice
-
Tribbie: Don't have him yet, and his Quantum buffs would pair perfectly with my Silver Wolf
-
Sparkle: The OG Harmony queen. Her recent buffs make her even more tempting
Second Half: The Buff Brigade
The second half of 3.4 is where things get really spicy. Not only are we getting Firefly's first re-run (finally!), but we're also getting all four characters who are receiving buffs in this update. Talk about perfect timing!
I've been a Blade main since his original run, and while he's been showing his age lately, these buffs might just put him back on top of the meta. The leaks suggest his HP drain mechanics are being reworked to be less punishing while maintaining his high-risk, high-reward playstyle. Can't wait to dust him off!
Silver Wolf and Kafka are also getting some much-needed love. Silver Wolf's debuff duration is supposedly being extended, while Kafka's DoT damage is getting a significant boost. And Jingliu? Well, she was already pretty broken, but I guess HoYoverse decided she needed to be even more of a monster.
My priority list for the second half:
-
Firefly - Missed her the first time around, not making that mistake again
-
Jingliu - Need those constellations to fully unlock her potential
-
Silver Wolf - Already have her, but with the buffs, her C1 is looking mighty tempting
-
Kafka - The DoT queen deserves some love
-
Blade - Already C6'd him (don't judge me, I was in a dark place financially)
The Gacha Strategy Struggle Is Real
With so many banners dropping at once, I've been crunching numbers like a madman. Even with the anniversary rewards from last month, there's no way I can pull for everyone unless I get extremely lucky or open my wallet wider than the Grand Bore. And let's be honest, my credit card is already giving me the side-eye.
I've mapped out every possible Stellar Jade income source for the next six weeks:
-
Daily missions: 60 × 42 days = 2,520
-
Simulated Universe weekly rewards: 600 × 6 weeks = 3,600
-
Forgotten Hall: 1,800 × 2 cycles = 3,600
-
Events (estimated): 4,000
-
Maintenance compensation: 600
-
Battle Pass (paid): 2,400
That gives me about 16,720 Stellar Jades, which translates to roughly 104 pulls. Nowhere near enough for guarantees on multiple banners. The struggle is real, y'all.
The Standard Banner Plot Twist
One interesting wrinkle in all this is that Blade is now part of the standard banner pool. This means I could potentially lose my 50/50 and still get him! Not that I want to lose any 50/50s, but if it happens, getting a Blade constellation wouldn't be the worst outcome.
This also means that if you're a newer player who started after his initial run, you have two ways to potentially get him in 3.4. Talk about a win-win situation!
Current Version Vibes
While I'm hyped for 3.4, I've been having a blast with Version 3.3 as well. Hyacine has completely transformed my Wind team. Her healing capabilities are off the charts, and that Wind Remembrance kit synergizes perfectly with my Argenti. They're like peanut butter and jelly—a match made in Astral Express heaven.
I'm also eyeing Cipher in the second half of 3.3. As a Quantum Nihility sub-DPS, she could be the missing piece for my Quantum team. Her off-field damage looks pretty sweet from what I've seen in the trial run.
